Dark Sky Projects
These are all activities you can carry out yourself.
Constellation projects - an example of this was run across Northern Scotland as the Highland Constellation Project, and has recently been run on the Isle of Luing[Adobe pdf, 259Kb].
Light Pollution Surveys - an example of surveying light pollution is the Globe At Night project.
Dark Sky Discovery Sites - identifying somewhere local that has a darker, accessible view of the night skies. The first two of these Dark Sky Discovery Sites in the world have been announced, in Scotland, with more to follow during 2009.
